Winter Decor Inspiration

Updated: Feb 20, 2019

With Thanksgiving behind us we are officially safe to bring out the holiday decor. If you’ve known me for a while you know I don’t function well with a lot of clutter around me. When it comes to my own holiday decor I try to bring in elements of the season rather than focusing on the holiday itself. Fall brings branches and gourds instead of ghosts and witches. Whatever Mother Nature is doing, I follow her lead.

For the Winter season those natural elements usually come in the form of greenery (faux or real), stacks of wood, candles and twinkle lights. These elements can carry you through the whole season without screaming Christmas. Adding layers like chunky throw blankets, pillows with a heavier texture and rugs with a deeper pile go a long way. It’s all about that warm cozy feeling you can evoke in a space.

The other thing I naturally start to do as the days get colder is switch out my colorful pillows and art with more neutral pieces. It just seems to happen and feel right. I guess it reflects our surroundings. If Mother Nature is going neutral who are we to question it?

That’s not to say that I don’t add in some pops of color sometimes. I may throw a little red into the mix nearing Christmas but I keep in mind that red is a strong color and a little goes a long way.

Here are some of my favorite winter decor pics to get you in the spirit.
