Below you'll find our non-toxic, low-waste cleaning recipes. I'll add more as we create them!
These are the basics that I can easily make into a cleaning kit for you.
On Guard Cleaning Concentrate- a highly concentrated multi-purpose cleaner with the on guard protective blend. 2 tbsp per 24 oz of water makes a multipurpose surface and glass cleaner.
Lemon-Degreaser, Deodorizer
Tea Tree- for surfaces and diffusing.
Purify- for surface cleaning & diffusing.
On Guard Sanitizer with ethyl alcohol- for skin and surfaces.
*TOILET CLEANING PODS
INGREDIENTS:
Glass bowl at least twice the size of the ingredients. This recipe rises!
Silicone Molds- batch makes twelve pods. We usually double it up and make 24.
1 Cup Baking Soda
1/4 Cup Citric Acid
1 tbsp Castile Soap
15 drops Essential Oil of choice (I used Purify but a combo of lemon and tea tree will be just as effective)
DIRECTIONS:
Mix dry ingredients thoroughly
Slowly add concentrate, castile soap, & essential oil
Stir until mixed
Let sit for about an hour. Keep an eye on it so it doesn't expand out of the bowl. Mix occasionally and press the mixture down then let it sit again. Repeat until mixture becomes crumbly.
Fill molds and press mixture down until each mold is compact
Cover molds with something flat to keep mixture from rising out of the molds
Let sit about 4 hours or until the pods are dry
Pop them out and store them in an airtight container
TO USE:
Drop 1 or two in the toilet, wait for fizz to subside, scrub and flush
*NATURAL STONE CLEANING SPRAY
INGREDIENTS:
½ cup isopropyl alcohol
1½ cups water
15 drops On Guard
½ teaspoon castile soap
DIRECTIONS:
Combine all ingredients in a 16 ounce glass spray bottle. Shake well before use, spray over the surface. Wipe away with a soft cloth.
Tip: Other oils that work well in this cleaner include Lemon, Grapefruit, or Basil essential oils add any of them for extra cleaning power!
*STAIN REMOVER SPRAY
INGREDIENTS:
H2O
DIRECTIONS:
In a 2 oz spray bottle add 2 tablespoons of On Guard Cleaning Concentrate, 10 drops of Lemon Essential Oil and top it off with water. Shake well and spray directly on stains. Let sit for a bit and throw it in the washer.
DIY ON GUARD FOAMING HANDWASH
10-15 drops of On Guard Oil, 2 tablespoons of Castile Soap and a few pumps of Fractionated Coconut Oil to keep our hands soft. Put them all in an 8 oz pump and shake it up!
DIY DISINFECTING SPRAY
The natural chemical components of the oils I chose for this spray should eliminate anything you're worried about. The Witch Hazel acts as an emulsifier to help the water and oils combine. I made mine in the 10 oz continuous mist spray bottle.
Add a splash of witch hazel and top with water. Shake before use.
DIY NONTOXIC DISHWASHER DETERGENT
In an airtight container mix dry ingredients:
1 Cup Super Washing Soda
1/2 Cup Table Salt
1 Cup Baking Soda
1 Cup Citric Acid
TO USE:
Add 1 TBSP directly to the drum of your washer. Make 56 loads.
*TIP- add a drop or two of Juniper Berry directly to the drum of your dishwasher for an extra cleaning boost!
FRUIT & VEGGIE WASH
Fill up the sink or a glass bowl with water (filtered if possible), add 5 drops of lemon and a few pumps of on guard foaming hand soap and let them soak for 5-10 minutes, then rinse them off.
