low-key design vibes, coming soon to your inbox

We are so happy to have Bloomist back on the blog today! One of my very favorite small shops on the planet. Known for their commitment to the environment and dedication to small batch artists, Bloomist has grown since the last time they were here. It seems like everywhere I turn they are popping up on my radar. BHG, Magnolia, Apartment Therapy, Domino, the list goes on and it makes me so happy to see such a wonderful shop like this bloom! If you missed Bloomist the first time around I highly suggest you find out more about them from our last post which you can find right here. This is a give back company with a big heart and a big mission so you can feel 100% comfortable that the treasures you bring home are in fact treasures. Meet all of the makers and learn more about how the Bloomist community is giving back right here. Find them on Instagram @mybloomist.

Here's the exciting news- we have a rare discount code!!! Oct 3rd-12th you can use "UNDECORATED15" to save 15% on your purchase.

I have a collection of items from Bloomist so I thought it would be fun to style them a few different ways and share some tips with you. You really can't go wrong with anything from the shop but a few of my favorites are the Wood Chain Links and the Tunisian Clay Beads. They have the very best dried botanicals, some are listed below but there are more on the website. Be sure to check out their beautiful handmade textiles right here. Now let's get on with some styling.

~Tips For Styling Your Coffee Table~

1. WORK IN A TRIANGLE

Imagine a triangle right in the middle of your table.

2. CHOOSE A FOCAL POINT

The first piece should be the tallest piece in your triangle. It's the item that draws your eye away from the rest of the room. A beautiful vessel alone can do the trick....

or you can up the anti with fresh blooms or dried botanicals that will last for years to come.

3. ANCHOR THE TRIANGLE AND CREATE LAYERS

I like to use books, trays and bowls as anchors. This gives your triangle some weight and creates a new layer for your next step.

3. LAYER IN DECORATIVE OBJECTS

This is my favorite step. I think every vignette needs something that will draw attention, something that feels like it has a story or something that people feel like they can touch.

4. A LITTLE SOMETHING EXTRA

Now is the time to fill in those little bare spots with items that you use often. A candle, a pretty match striker, a vessel to corral the little things we tend to leave on the table.

I usually give a bit more of an introduction to my small shop friends but today I'm going to let Ceren Lee of Oddbird Co do most of the talking. You'll learn so much about the wonderful person she is just by reading her words. Ceren wears many hats- a Mother of 4 (with sweet Edith James just a little over a month old), the founder of Oddbird Co and wife to Jason Lee- just to name a few. Her shop specializes in handwoven Turkish textiles and small-batch luxury loungewear that is ethically made and fairly priced.

I have quite a few towels from her shop and they are far and away the best Turkish towels we own! I also have two of the handwoven blankets. They are beautiful and so well made they are sure to become family heirlooms.

Meet Ceren and shop my round up below.

Ceren Lee - Oddbird Co
"Hi, my name is Ceren Alkac-Lee and I am a mother of 4 and the owner of Oddbird Co.
Oddbird was established in late 2015 from my deep desire to showcase the traditional handcrafted textiles of my homeland, Turkey, while creating sustainable alternatives to the most used and loved items for home and body.
I wanted to design textiles that would serve our customer in a multitude of ways and become a fixture in their home or on their bodies.
As a mother, the items that I value most are the ones that continue to serve me every day. The shapeshifting ‘thneeds’ of life.
The pieces you buy and realize a decade later are still in rotation or now serve a completely different purpose.
Like one of our carefully designed towels that now double as a blanket for my youngest in her crib or are being thrown over my shoulders as a shawl when I’m running out of the house.
The robe that has now transitioned into a linen duster over my favorite dress, or even the blanket that is durable enough to take camping and machine wash without worry of it being ruined.
Everything we make is designed to keep on giving. Kind of like a mother. A quiet achiever. The pieces that keep taking care of you.
That’s what we strive for every day.
Not only that but we are incredibly proud to be an ethically-made brand with a major focus on creating a product that is made and sold at a fair price.
We aim to offer the highest quality textiles at fair prices so we can support our talented artisans and our customers alike while having the opportunity to continue the conversation of sustainable fashion."
Warmly -Ceren

Below you will find some of my favorite items in the shop. (Click the photos for direct links.) Today feels a bit like I've come full circle. D + K Renewal was the first shop I followed and ordered from on Instagram and here we are with a big, fat feature on them! I specifically remember my first order was a white mudcloth throw, I was so pumped to have one of their pieces. My collection has grown over the last few years but the most asked about D + K item in our house is our dog bed which is actually a double pouf. Cousins Dawnelle and Kirstin created D + K Renewal together with the hope of offering pieces in their shop that speak to you and embolden your design choices!

Kirsten has recently moved on to spend more time with her family but D + K Renewal is still growing with a bigger selection than ever! Over the past few weeks Dawnelle has added a ton of new products and there are more on the way. Her prices can't be beat and you never know what she's going to add next! I'll round up some of my favorites below but first meet my friend - the ultimate Girl Boss who usually has a trail of kids behind her- Dawnelle...

"Founded by cousins, Dawnelle and Kirsten, D+K Renewal is a curated selection of global textiles and accessories as well as a selection of handmade pieces and artwork for the modern bohemian home. Our goal with D+K has always been to bring life to pieces that would otherwise be tossed aside and to share the beautiful art of textiles from around the world. Each piece is hand selected by us and ready for a new life!
Our hope as you visit our website is that you feel inspired to be bold and brave in your own spaces. Use the pieces that speak to you because of their color, texture, patterns, history... whatever it may be... go for it!" -Dawnelle

Below you'll find just a bit of what D + K Renewal has to offer. You can find so much more on the website here. Make sure to follow along with them on Instagram @dkrenewal for all the behind the scenes of this family run business! Dawnelle's passion is unrivaled and so inspiring. They are a joy to keep up with!

Happy shopping!

XO, Meg
