Our Holiday Home with Bloomist

In the coming year our family is going to be making great strides to reduce our environmental footprint and make better, more sustainable choices. Today I'm sharing a company that is making those choices easy for us. Bloomist sources their products from a global community of artisans, designer-makers, and ethical suppliers who do good for the planet and humanity through what they make.

After 2 1/2 years of development they are the first in the industry to offer eco-friendly botanicals! Here is what they have to say...

"The processes and materials that go into creating faux botanicals are unhealthy for the environment. To help overcome this problem, we worked with our suppliers (for two and a half years) to develop a new collection of faux botanicals that are beautiful, realistic, and environmentally friendly. We are the first in the industry to develop green faux botanicals, and we created the collection with the goal of breaking free of the petrochemical cycle. Petals and leaves utilize upcycled fabrics, made from single use plastic or PET bottles. Digital printing is used on some specimens to reduce wastage and water use. Biodegradable paper maché replaces Styrofoam berries. And certain components are made of bioplastics made from 60-70% biomass or agricultural by-products. We want to be part of the solution, not perpetuate the problem. We're not 100% there by any means, but we're committed to making realistic, beautiful faux botanicals that break free of the petrochemical cycle."

These faux botanicals came just in time for our holiday decorating. I'm sharing a quick tour so you can see how we used these eco-faux pieces. All of Bloomist's eco-faux wreaths and garlands are 30% off this month. No code necessary. And I have a code that you can stack on top of that or use for anything else you've had your eye on. Use UNDECORATED15 for 15% off your entire order or UNDECORATED25 for $25 off when you spend $100. Both offers expire 12/30.

Let's get on with the tour! In the foyer we hung this Faux Magnolia Wreath on a hook just inside the door. I love the way those beautiful leaves pop off of the white shiplap. This wreath is constructed on a natural willow vine base accented with natural pinecones. The Magnolia leaves are made of EVA while the leaf bone is made from bioplastic.

Here's a close up to show you how realistic the faux accents are. It's pretty amazing in person!

In the dining room I hung two of the Faux Juniper Berry Garlands above the window. The view outside is so incredible with the freshly fallen snow, the garland is the perfect frame for nature. The garlands are constructed on a natural willow vine base and feature natural pinecones mixed with faux berries made of biodegradable paper maché. The stems and leaf bones are bioplastic. I might mix in some fresh greenery when we get a little closer to Christmas. How pretty would that be!

Below I added a few dried Banksia to my winter bouquet. I've talked about Bloomist's dried botanicals before but never thought to add them to a fresh bouquet until now and I love the result! You can find more ideas for mixing fresh and dried botanicals in the Bloomist Journal.

The pillows are also from Bloomist; they are handcrafted and sustainable with organic wool and natural dyes. I linked them below and you can find more of their gorgeous textiles here.

In the new bathroom we added a Faux Juniper Berry Crescent Wreath to each mirror. These wreaths, like the garlands, are constructed on a natural willow vine base and feature natural pinecones mixed with faux berries made of biodegradable paper maché. The stems and leaf bones are bioplastic. I love the natural textures and that little hint of color from the berries.

I have to say that it was a joy to decorate with these pieces. The peace of mind that comes from using products like this is priceless. You can expect to see more eco friendly options from Bloomist in the coming year and you can check out the whole line of eco-faux botanicals right here. Most of them have already sold out so jump on whatever it is you love!

If you have some last minute shopping to do check out their beautifully curated Gift Guides here. I'm sharing a few of my personal favorites below as well. Here is that code for you again, use UNDECORATED15 for 15% off your entire order or UNDECORATED25 for $25 off when you spend $100. Both offers expire 12/30.

Thanks for reading! Happy Holidays!

XO, Meg
